Andreas Heitland – Director Operations & Service Kiepe Electric GmbH

Kiepe Electric attaches great importance to reliability and quality. Vehicles that have been travelling with Kiepe electric systems for 30 years or more are not uncommon. In the unique Kiepe system test centre in Düsseldorf, we subject newly developed assemblies and components to load and endurance tests and numerous tests.

- We use powerful voltage sources to realistically simulate driving performance. We use load machines to individually set the speed, torque, speed and tractive force of the traction motors used in the vehicle in order to simulate different driving profiles.

- Protective devices allow modifications and maintenance work to be carried out without interfering with other ongoing tests. The centralised test station control facilitates test execution and all measured values are recorded accurately.

- Our extensive range of measuring equipment is DAkkS-calibrated in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, and current, voltage, speed and torque are always measured and recorded. This is how we ensure that our products meet the highest quality standards.

- We carry out a wide range of tests to verify the suitability of products and systems. We are guided by specific standards, such as EN 61287-1 (power converters on railway vehicles), EN 50155 (electronic equipment on railway vehicles) or ECE R85 (measurement of the effective power of electric drive systems). For special tests that cannot be carried out in-house, we co-operate closely with external testing institutes.
